I just got word from my classmate last year that the written comprehensive examinations will take place on July 6, 13 and 20, 2012 — so that will be the first three Mondays of that month. Funnily enough that I only found out about it today and the memo was given last June 14, 2012. And to top it all, I have to send a letter asking for permission to take the exams due on Friday.
Luckily, I got my True Copy of Grades last May or else I won’t be able to pass anything because it takes about a week to secure one. I was under the impression that the exams will be on the last week of August.
Seeing all the deadlines and the requirements to be submitted made me realize how real and excruciating the following weeks and months will be. I only have less than two months to review for these super, duper, mega, over final exams and pass the language proficiency examination. They say that the latter will be relatively easy but I never take such opinions as facts because I always think that things tend to be more difficult, especially for me.
Still, I don’t get it why the undergraduate diploma given to me by the same department won’t suffice in lieu of that language proficiency exam they are going to administer. Something’s not right with that. I already have my PLIDA language certification for Italian but the original certificate was an unfortunate casualty of the the 2009 Typhoon Ondoy. If only I had the sense to keep it somewhere safe, then there won’t be any need to take another exam, this time for French.
I’m more than nervous. I feel like the cricket who sang and danced all summer, never bothering to open a book or concentrate in reviewing for the upcoming exams. And now I’m being punished.
