Painting the town MAHOGANY!

Very nice and sunny Saturday that prompted Mon and I to deal with our muddy furniture. Well, we have already washed the mud away days prior but being soaked in flood water for several hours left them lackluster.

So for today, we decided to serve some Diana Ross realness and paint the town mahogany! I’m not big on painting and this type of house work, which I often leave to my older brother to work on, but as he was away for the weekend (as usual) and I could no longer stand with how hideous they are, we took matters to our own hand.

One thing I’ve realized while working on these was that in the near future when I get my own place, I will NEVER buy any furniture with intricate or unnecessary carvings because they are a bitch to work with. Even in their natural, un-muddy state, they were always annoying to clean. Imagine getting the mud out and varnishing them after — very laborious.

All in all, Mon and I were able to finish two long chairs, two chairs with an armrest, the dining table together with its six chairs, and a long wooden sofa. Considering there were already two of us who worked all afternoon, we still were not able to varnish about three items.

Six bottles of varnish after, it was no surprise that my hands were very messy. As much as  I hate the smell of thinner, I was made to use them to remove the varnish residue from my hands. Not to mention, I had sustained a sunburned back! O_O  Nevertheless, I can tell that my mother was extremely happy with the work we have done. LOL
