Lessons from a bus ride

Just kidding. I won’t be giving a mock epiphany over a bus ride, the same way an article of a ditzy girl from a school in Katipunan had gone viral earlier this week and received lots of criticisms.

Anyway, I had an unfortunate incident before leaving the house and tripped and midly sprained my left ankle. I then chose not to take the MRT out of fear of taking another wrong step and rolling down the stairs to see the end of me.

As much as possible, I avoid taking an airconditioned bus because I can’t stand the air conditioning mixed with those My Shaldan and pine tree-shaped air fresheners. Just the thought of smelling them made me instantaneously nauseous. As I always claim, I can ride an ordinary bus or a long jeepney ride but not an air conditioned bus. However, as years passed by, I finally developed a better tolerance, unless the bus really stinks.

Belofied App billboard - EDSA Greenhills - Vicky Belo

Belofied App billboard

While travelling along EDSA, I saw this giant billboard by Petron Greenhills and was amazed by the audacity of its message. Well, the application seemed like a mobile ‘liquify function’ of Adobe Photoshop. It was extremely amazing and tasteless at the same time. Talk about giving a twisted expectation of what beauty should be.

But I can’t blame Belo, there seems to be a big market here for enhancements and skin whitening (just go to any beauty and drug stores with their shelves of skin whitening products).

At exactly 2:00 PM, I was to take the last pill for this gruelling week of medication but as I was on the road and with no food in sight, I waited for vendors to come aboard and sell something to ingest. Fortunately, a man selling salted peanuts and beverages came and I did not have to take an 800mg medicine on an empty stomach.

Cloudy with a chance of rain - Ayala Avenue, Makati City

I can’t wait for the rainy season to be finally over. I think we officially have another typhoon (Karen) but Metro Manila won’t be directy hit. On the upside, it was a Friday and it meant jeans were allowed. I’ve never been this fed up with our office dress code and I suddenly miss the ol’ days when I could go casual all week long.

In hindsight, I realized there was nothing interesting (in a good way) happening with me recently. I’m just waiting for the results of my examinations (whose results will be out by the end of October) and I’m now thinking of doing something worthwhile, like some volunteer work or part-time internship. I’m searching for things online but I can’t find the exact thing to do. Anyway, I’m pretty sure I will be able to find the suitable one in the coming weeks.
