It’s Christmas! Yay! I always look forward to the end of the year festivities.
Mon and I had discussed weeks ago what our holiday festivities would look like. For Christmas Eve, we’ll have to spend it with his family and spend Christmas day with my family. Then for New Year’s Eve, it would be with my family as his family would be spending it in Laoag.
It was the first time that we’d be spending Christmas with his family, and it was a lot different than what we normally do. They had a lot of games leading up to midnight and had a mandatory coordinated outfit.
They also eat Noche Buena before 12:00 am, unlike us who eat exactly as it becomes 25.
After eating and as they open their gifts, I took the opportunity to call my family as well. I’d be spending the day after with them anyway.
At around 1:30 am, we left back to our apartment as we had to see the 3 cats. The Grab ride back took us only 30 minutes, and by 2:00 am, we were already home.
We had to wake up early at around 8:00 am as well, as my brother had to pick us up at our place so we can travel together the following day.
To no surprise, it took us less than an hour to travel to our house. We had plenty of time to chat and catch up before Christmas lunch.
And by catch up, I meant annoying our senior cat Miso, whose fur has grown back since the health scare we had last October. Given her age, we had been informed that we had to closely monitor her.
She is not skittish, and surprisingly as sweet as when she used to be a kitten before I moved out of the house almost 10 years ago. I was not sure if it was her advancing age, or how much I always make it a point to comb her for minutes whenever I visit.
Still, I was very happy to see her looking healthier albeit some persistent health issues. I also look forward to celebrating her 10th birthday this coming February.
We left our house at around 1:30 pm, and the traffic situation back to the city was already hellish. Contrary to our easy trip going there, it took us more than 2 hours to be back at the apartment.
It looked like all kids had finally managed to get their aguinaldo and everyone was on their way to the mall.
On our end, we had at least 2 movies we look forward to watching at MMFF 2022: Deleter and Partners in Crime.
The former was directed by Mikhail Red, whose last film Block Z was the last pre-lockdown movie we have watched in a crowded cinema. The latter was a matter of familiarity. We have been always religiously watching It’s Showtime everyday. =D
But before the movie, we had dinner first. We took an exception again eating bread, as there was no veggie alternative. We cannot wasted good food on a good day.
As for Deleter, it started quite slow, with the atmosphere too dark at times. The thing is, I enjoyed it despite having polarizing opinions online. Nadine was really good here, and she’d likely nab a Best Actress trophy from her performance here. I also loved the cinematography, especially the bar scene with Nadine’s colleagues.
One practical gripe I could not shake off, though, was if in the real world, if your trade is already involved in something as gruesome on daily basis, why have an office that languishes in the dark?
Why not have a unicorn and rainbow explosion to counter what the workers had to deal with? LOL I know it sounded stupid and that would definitely take away the intended atmosphere for the movie. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it despite some clunky editing in the rooftop scene when McCoy suddenly changed to Louise.
Anyway, it’s Christmas so I am not sure why I am even putting too much thought on these things. Enjoy the movie as it is, and enjoy Christmas 2022 as well!
