Ilocos again! Day 2 – Driving around

We woke up quite late today. My legs ached a bit from yesterday’s biking and I even had to use Omega painkiller on my legs. After our lunch, we’ll be driving a lot to first visit Dingras, and eventually to a cultural park south of Laoag. Tita Doris had been wanting us to visit Nueva Era Eco Cultural Park.

From what I recall, we paid around 50 pesos per head as entrance fee, but I might be wrong. There were not a lot of people inside as well considering it was a Sunday, hmmm. I also thought that it would rain but good thing it did not. After eating meryenda, Mon and I along with Leigh and Mac went around the park to see what they have for tourists. It was not much, but interestingly, Leigh mentioned that in the park’s opening, there used to be some sort of cultural show. Obviously, they no longer do it and the place appears just like that, a park. However, I’m still delighted by the place because, hello, oxygen from the trees! The absence of people means more oxygen for us and it was very good to my lungs. 😀

These tree houses (if they can be correctly called as such) were functional rooms. I guess people can really rent it out for the night, but I would have been terrified to stay here because I’m afraid of heights. I don’t have problems with airplanes because I knew that statistically, chances of accidents on planes are less than on the road. I was also too afraid that I might stupidly slip in between the steps of the stairs. One grown-up person can neatly fit there. LOL

I forgot to mention that there was a pool and a museum inside the eco park. There’s a separate fee to use the pool, and unfortunately, even the museum has separate admission fee. Personally, I think it would have been much better if the museum fee would be waived, considering that it was not that big and you can supposedly pretty much have a look around within 20 minutes, 30 minutes at most. I expect this place might be teeming with tourists in summer.

From our stay in Nueva Era Eco Cultural Park, we went back to Laoag City to attend mass in Laoag Cathedral. I have been here before, but on daytime. The church was, as expected, pretty at night because it was nicely lit. The sinking bell tower was beautiful at night too.

And finally, Mon and I got the chance to have our pictures taken with the big ‘LAOAG’ welcoming people in the city, as well as the big chair and wardrobe in front of the provincial capitol. I’m baffled about the purpose or relevance of the last two, but I dare not question its purpose because it was cute anyway. =P We also ate and ate this time. From eating dinner by the stalls next to the Sinking Bell Tower, we also had empanadas, barbecues, and fruits on our way back to the perya to name a few. Feeling full is just an understatement. I was bursting!

For the following day’s plan, we’d be going to Vigan, Ilocos Sur!
