Hooray! Our new place!

As much as we wanted to rest from yesterday’s tiring but exciting event, we just did not have enough time. It was our turn to move to our new apartment, We still have to finish packing a couple of boxes and secure some of our furniture with ropes to facilitate mobility. At almost 10:00 AM, the movers finally arrived in their multicab. We helped out in transferring our things and I was happy that they fit at the back of the vehicle! Good thing we thought beforehand of bringing some of our belongings earlier this week. They had no problem loading our stuff as we were just located on the ground floor, but it was a different story bringing them ‘way up’ to our new place.

The whole process of carrying them up took exactly two hours, and I’ve spent majority of the time staying upstairs to dust things off and position them in their proper places I’ve planned beforehand. We are now located on the fifth floor of the building with no elevator, and I have to be extra mindful not to forget anything once downstairs when we go to work. Everything from the last apartment was just rearranged inside, and we only bought new LED bulbs for the two sockets. Too bad we won’t be able to use the same circle lamp as we still needed to buy a separate ballast and install it by the ceiling. The building has a lot of restrictions on what we can and cannot do. I was hoping there were already holes drilled for the curtain rods, and we had to improvise to make sure the toaster and the refrigerator do not get grilled under the afternoon sun.

As it was a studio, there were no divisions and I had to use the closet, storage boxes and magazines to make a make-shift divider to separate the sleeping area directly from the door’s view.

I would have wanted one of the folds in the folding table to be permanently open, but it was best to just leave it on its narrowest form to allow more floor room. We just unfold it whenever we eat or needed more table space.

Hopefully, we’ll have a more pleasant stay here. The wide windows and view of Makati skyline were very promising.
